Interesting: Ramen noodles



Momofuku Ando developed instant noodles after WWII in response to food shortages in Japan. In 2007, worldwide demand reached 98 billion servings due to their low cost and flexibility. The noodles can easily be made healthier and tastier by adding fresh vegetables, pasta sauce, and more. I've seen people throw away the noodles and just use the flavoring, I've seen other throw away the flavoring and just use the noodles. Oriental and Chili flavors are vegan.

Mushrooms!


I've always had a taste for mushrooms, so I was excited to find my friend, Andrew, packing "mushroom kits" to sell at his local farmer's market on a recent visit to his house. With oyster and shitake mushrooms priced as high as $10 a lb at some local grocery stores, I was more than willing to give it a try.

Andrew starts by growing some type of culture in a jar then mixes this with straw. The final mixture is packed tightly in plastic and put to grow in indirect sunlight. Let's see how it goes...
